My 2024 Trip to the Faroe Islands & Iceland
53 Days (7+ weeks) solo
Having proven my mini-RV concept, I decided to give myself a real challenge in the summer of 2024, taking a car ferry from Denmark to the Faroe Islands, then on to Iceland, and back again, sleeping the entire time in Mai Kaar.
As always, planning the trip was a large part of the fun. I spent over 6 months planning, creating increasingly complex and detailed spreadsheets to help me choose my routes, hikes, sleeping locations, and packing list. For both destinations, it was a legal requirement to park overnight in authorized campsites, so a good part of my prep time included researching available sites.
I returned to the idea of doing a live blog while I was traveling, though kept the address private and only shared with a few people that I knew might be interested. Mostly, the journal was for my future self to return to later.
Nearly a year later, I’m finally creating a trip page, though this one is a bit different than my other trip pages. I provide links to my journal entries in the order that I wrote them, since the blog page posts newest first, which I don’t like now that the trip is done.
