In February 2026, just a little over a half year after finishing Drawn from Life vs. Drawn from Photo, I was surprised to find myself with enough content to fill a new book.
Realizing that this may continue happening at difficult to predict intervals, I decided on a book design that would suit any subject matter I might draw and include whatever text I might feel like writing.
Hopefully I will produce another book of sketches at some point, so I can reuse the design.
This time I included both sketches drawn from life and from photo references, including mostly figure studies, but also a few portraits.
I sorted the sketches based on when I drew the sketches from life, and included any sketches from a photo reference of a pose on the same page spread. I threw in the portrait sketches (always from photo references) based on the date when I finished them.
I peppered the pages with short form essays on whatever topic came to mind as I added the images to the book.
On a whim, I created multiple cover designs featuring different models.
